MANITOWOC — Whether you’re in the mood for classical Christmas music, pop sounds, traditional holiday songs or Christian rock, there’s a concert in the Lakeshore area just for you.
Holiday musical programs abound, including these five upcoming concerts featuring local and guest musicians:
Lakeshore Wind Ensemble's 'A Festival of Christmas'
The concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St., Manitowoc.
Music director Michael Arendt added a second performance about 10 years ago to keep up with the demand for this annual show, which traditionally kicks off the holiday concert season with its family-friendly program featuring Santa Claus.
Television personality Tom Zalaski will narrate the concert, which also will include the Festival of Christmas Children’s Choir. Among the wind ensemble’s featured songs: “Christmas Intrada and Celebration” by Alfred Reed and “Rejouissance” by James Curnow. Also, for the first time the wind ensemble will have an audience sing-along of “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “The Messiah.”
Arendt said he looks for new arrangements of music each year to keep the concert fresh and alive.
Main floor and mezzanine tickets are $16 for adults and $11 for students and all balcony seats.
Tickets are available at the Capitol box office from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and Friday, and from 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday; as well as by phone at (920) 683-2184 or online at www.cccshows.org.
